Before you book
Get the full company name
Georgia requires service and sales vehicles to display the company's full name. Ask for it on the call, along with the license number.
Search the state's list
Use the Department of Agriculture's Structural Pest Control Search. You can search companies by category and location, name or license number, and look up certified operators and registered employees.
Or call the department
The Structural Pest Division answers at 404-656-3641 and can confirm a company's or individual's status. Its email is pest@agr.georgia.gov.
Check the category if it's termites
Only a company licensed in the wood destroying organisms category can issue the state's termite report, per the state fact sheet. It's worth asking about any termite work.
What a Georgia company has to give you
The Georgia Department of Agriculture says a contract is required for all structural pest services, including termite and general pest work such as rodent control. A company must show its pest control business license if you ask, and give you a copy if you need one.
At each service, the company must leave a record with its name and phone number, the application date, the pesticide name and EPA registration number, amount and concentration, target pest, treated areas, application method, technician name and any instructions for afterward. Keep these.

If something seems wrong
You can ask the state to inspect. Reasons include unsafe applications, an unlicensed operator, concerns about termite treatment, an incomplete or inaccurate termite letter, or conflicting reports from two companies.
Use the request form on the department's site or call 404-656-3641. An inspector schedules a visit and may ask for your contract, service tickets or letters. The department says the process can take a few weeks to a few months.
